Tile and stone Trends Seen at Coverings 2024

tiles Trends- Fresh from Coverings, The Annual Tile & Stone show

Coverings show. It's the ultimate gathering place for design enthusiasts, where the most innovative and captivating materials come together.

The largest natural stone conference and exhibition in the U.S. in the Spring. It features more than 1,000 global exhibitors from 40 countries and will set the stage for introducing some of the world’s most innovative tile and stone products. My mission was to find the most beautiful, innovative, and exciting tile trends that reflect the essence of 2024's design landscape. Discover what i found here…

This year the show was a feast for the senses, with a full display of color, textures, and patterns that will shape our choices and selections in the design landscape for many years.

Here are my curated selections of the six most compelling tile trends spotted at Coverings 2024.

Trend 1. Tile with soft Hues and Earthy tones

Im ready for color, how about you? A gentle embrace of tranquility defines this year’s color palette. Soft blush, serene griege, pristine white, and calming green hues are redefining our spaces with a sense of peace and sophistication. Think of it as a daily dose of First Light, Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year, captured in tile form.

Trend 2. Terrazzo's Triumphant Return

The beloved terrazzo is back, and it's more dazzling than ever. This timeless material, with its playful mix of colors and textures, adds a touch of whimsy and character to any space. Whether it's a kitchen countertop or a bathroom floor, terrazzo promises to be a focal point that sparks joy.

Trend 3. Porcelain Perfection

Porcelain takes its cues from natural stone, with increased beauty every year.

Cooking on porcelain, Porcelain tile has undergone a remarkable evolution, blurring the lines between natural stone and man-made artistry. Its enduring beauty, coupled with exceptional durability and easy maintenance, makes it a top choice for modern living. From kitchen countertops that can withstand culinary adventures to bathroom floors that exude elegance, porcelain offers unparalleled versatility and value.

Trend 4: The Enduring Allure of Mosaics

Mosaics, with their intricate patterns and endless possibilities, continue to be a design staple. Whether it's a shimmering accent wall or a dazzling backsplash, these tiny tiles create a sense of grandeur and artistry. From classic geometric designs to contemporary abstract patterns, there's a mosaic to suit every style.

Trend 5: Contoured Tile - A New Dimension

Contoured tile is the latest innovation to elevate your space. Imagine tiles that curve and undulate, adding depth and dimension to your walls and floors. This groundbreaking design element brings a sculptural quality to your home, transforming ordinary surfaces into captivating focal points.

Trend 6: Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Tiles

A growing consciousness towards environmental responsibility has permeated the design world, and tile manufacturers are responding with innovative and sustainable options. From recycled materials to low-impact production processes, eco-friendly tiles are gaining popularity without compromising style.

These tiles often boast natural colors and textures, reflecting a harmonious connection to nature. Incorporating sustainable choices into your home not only benefits the planet but also creates a serene and uplifting atmosphere.

  1. Select materials thoughtfully and layer them with care

  2. Make certain that grids align from floor to wall

  3. Review where there will be small pieces and where you want the to be positioned. (plan ahead)

  4. Use the smallest grout joints possible

  5. When interviewing you contractor ask to view completed projects he has done before

  6. Dry lay the material by opening all boxes and blending material for color variation
