Kitchen and Bath Trends 2024
2024 Kitchen and Bath Trends Report
Fresh from the oven, Kitchen and Bath trends for 2024. As our kitchens open up to the rest of the home, they become more than just a space for cooking and meal preparation, they are becoming an integral room for our living, gathering, and entertaining. Our kitchens aren't just culinary havens, they're the beating heart of the house. Gone are the days of tucked-away cooking nooks. Walls dissolve, spaces flow, and the kitchen becomes an open invitation to gather, to connect, to savor the good life.
Whether you are looking to refresh or remodel a kitchen, you will find these trends and new introductions refreshing, along with a few carryovers from 2023. As much as we might try to deny that trends have any sway on our décor choices, there's no doubt they influence us.
Kitchen Trends + Ideas
The overall theme for kitchen and bath design in 2024 is quiet luxury, personalization, and increased interest in wellness. While I don't typically speak in terms of trends, because clients should choose what they love and what works for their lifestyle, these shifts in preferences are real and worth considering.
My Top 20 Design Introductions and Influences for Kitchen and Bath 2024
1. Dark and Moody
Moody kitchens are a growing trend in the design world. This trend is likely inspired by the popularity of Hale Navy and other dark, rich colors in living and dining rooms now showing up in our kitchens as well.
Today, darker-toned kitchens are often paired with warm wood tones to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. You can also add pops of color with artwork or accessories to create a more personal space.
2. Black and grey metal for Cabinetry, windows and fixtures are here to stay
There is a rise gunmetal and matte black finish for fixtures in the kitchen and bath. Matte Black was the finish of 2022, but for 2023 there is lots of discussion about a stunning new metal color, “graphite grey” a 90% grey in my book. Wall Shelves are on their way out.
Stunning new metal cabinets in black and grey.
Metal cabinetry is having an impact. as resources become available. As shown above, Architectural finishes such as black metal windows are mirrored in the kitchen with Matte Black metal doors and cabinetry.
3. New Surfaces with Reeded panels & tambour cabinetry and stone
While the all-white kitchen still remains popular for many years, in 2024 we see it diminishing. A continuing shift towards warm neutrals for cabinetry, accented with wood tones in walnut and oak, combined with luxurious stones and metals.
Reeded + Curved
“ Encapsulated” i’m really excited to see this texture added to the island and on other features like the fireplace and a more furniture-like approach to kitchen cabinetry, a little finesse if I may say.
4. Mixed Metals and Traditional Lines
Mixed metal faucets, they are more a classic work of art than a faucet, yet highly functional with all the demands of a faucet. Uber chic
Mixed metal lighting, and cabinet hardware.
.
5. increased use of warm woods in cabinetry combined with natural stone as shown above.
Embracing Natural Stone
Natural stone is a popular choice for countertops and backsplashes in moody kitchens. It adds a touch of luxury and sophistication to the space.
If you're looking for a unique and eye-catching backsplash, consider using handmade tiles or textured stone or porcelain. These materials can add a touch of personality and style to your kitchen.
All good in my book. Warm neutrals are replacing white, and accents in brown are warming the room, with an elegant outcome.
6. Countertops with movement and drama
Clients are requesting slabs with more drama. Note the waterfall edge of this island , and how the stone pattern flows over the edge. Beautiful stones, Neutral colors, for cabinetry often accented with mixed metals are all indicators of the most recent and exciting approaches to color and materials for the kitchen in 2024.
7. Cabinet colors and wood tones are returning to the kitchen
Quietly Luxury- well crafted, in luxurious material, like, stone and wood with warm neutral colors.
Adding color is seen in the use of neutral that complements the stone and wood cabinetry choices. Wood is usually walnut or Oak .
Plus- And don’t forget as mentioned above, more textures with reeded wood and stone.
8. New surfaces- Reeded Quartz+ Terrazzo
The crown jewel of this kitchen is MyCambria Harlow Matte—a new design exclusively previewed at the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show—featured on the island and full-height backsplash
9. High-quality appliances: Induction is HOT
Why are greens so dominant in this year’s color choices? It appears that people spending more time outside and reconnecting with nature is the biggest influence of this new color trend. Earthy tones give off a feeling of fresh, new starts also. It’s no wonder these hues are such a dominant presence in this year’s choices.
10. “Convertible” Refrigerator/Freezer Drawers
Storage and organization are top priorities for kitchens, I am excited with the latest introductions and new flexibilities offered in the refrigerator/ freezer drawers these days. These latest innovations are clever and convenient ideas for refrigeration. The Fisher & Paykel CoolDrawer is an ever-popular appliance choice for kitchens of all shapes and sizes. ( I have had the FP (2 ) drawer dishwasher for over 7 years, and I can’t be happier.) The multi-purpose integrated drawer has five different food modes to choose from that include a fridge, freezer, pantry, chill, and a wine setting offering total flexibility in the kitchen.
Here’s why we love them…

13. Bath + Shower Updates: Integrated Drains
Can a shower drain be stylish? YES!
Combining function with updated design elevates your everyday showering. I found this beauty on the KBIS digital review this month featuring all-new introductions for 2021. Designers will often choose ACO for the stylish Wave grate as well as the linear drains that can be positioned along the wall, and they are also ADA compliant.
14. The Verso Rain Shower with Magnetix by Moen- healthy choices for Bath
KBIS highlight with its magnetic backing, this luxurious shower head is not only stylish and with a wonderful flow, it is also easy to clean! Just pull it off, clean it with vinegar any dark yuck, and snap it right back. A shower with wellness top of mind

White Vanity: This vanity is a good compromise for areas where you would like a pedestal sink but require storage. You can also find it here in Bathroom Vanities along with the Malika Persian Rug here that picks up the color from the brass hardware and the golden-brown colors from the wallpaper.

16. The Kitchen Island is the main feature and it is getting bigger.
Most renovations include a featured fixture over the kitchen island. Even if you aren’t undertaking a major renovation, updated lighting is an easy and effective way to refresh your kitchen.
Kitchen Lighting has 3 layers that must be used together for the best results. 1. Undercounter lighting is a must-have. 2. Recessed lighting in walkways and general areas. 3. Featured fixtures, with the kitchen island having the main lighting feature, setting the style for the whole room.
Lighting styles with staying power:
17. Fluting is back in style for the kitchen and bath, and I’m all for it!
Trends come around time and time again, so it’s no surprise that fluting has been popping up in homes recently. We are seeing it on everything from bathroom vanities, kitchen cabinets, and vent hoods to side tables and glass vases.
