Blue and Gold Color Scheme

It's my favorite time of year, and things have been super busy here in the studio. I am so grateful for you all - for your support, and kind words.

Have you noticed the resurgence of blue and gold in interior design? This classic combination is popping up everywhere, from cozy living rooms to sleek kitchens.

Why Blue and Gold?

The pairing of blue and gold is a match made in design heaven. Blue, with its calming and versatile nature, complements the luxurious and opulent feel of gold. Together, they create a space that is both sophisticated and inviting.

Color ideas: For a Timeless Classic Look

The timeless pairing of blue and gold has captivated interior designers for generations. This elegant combination evokes feelings of sophistication, tranquility, and a touch of opulence. Whether you favor a modern aesthetic or a more traditional style, blue and gold can create a truly stunning and inviting space in your home.

Color Scheme Ideas

  • Navy Blue and Gold: A bold and dramatic combination that works well in modern and contemporary spaces.

  • Powder Blue and Gold: A softer and more feminine pairing that is perfect for traditional or coastal-inspired designs.

  • Teal and Gold: A vibrant and energetic combination that adds a touch of personality to any room.

Blue and Gold Color Scheme Ideas

If you haven’t already noticed, navy blue has a strong presence this year and is gaining momentum as we move towards 2021. Everything from trims and moldings to kitchen cabinetry.

Now, for me, there is no such thing as "Trends" or the "Current Color" when selecting items for your home - I want you to choose furniture, fabrics, and objects that you love. As your designer, I can help you organize and prioritize to make the best choices and have it all flow and work together into a home that you will love living in. Take a look and see if you too don’t fall in love with this color combination.

Blue Trim is Everywhere and I like it.

Blue is a sensational color alongside antiques and wood floors. Blue trim is everywhere this year. It is so complementary to the warmth of the wood floors like the beautiful flooring shown above in a provincial stain. A navy blue can be used in almost any room as it is a transition color, meaning it has both warm and cool undertones.

The Psychology and Meaning of Blue and Gold.

Blue represents the color of SKY and SEA. Mother sky is blue, and father earth is golden Siena (warm gold). If you are working with an indigo blue, like Benjamin Moore “Hale Navy” which works well as a transition color, the secret is knowing it requires a lot of natural light to not appear too dark. Another Benjamin Moore favorite I’ve used is “Gentleman's Gray”. Despite its name, it’s a dark color with strong indigo tones. Blue and Gold: A Colorful Pairing for Your Home

Blue and gold are two of the most classic and elegant colors, and they make a beautiful pairing in any room. Blue is the color of the sky and the sea, and it evokes feelings of peace, tranquility, and serenity. Gold is the color of luxury, wealth, and sophistication. Together, these two colors create a luxurious and timeless look that will never go out of style.

  • Blue

There are many different shades of blue, so you can choose one that perfectly suits your style and your home's décor. If you want a light and airy look, choose a pale blue like sky blue or baby blue. For a more dramatic effect, go with a dark blue like navy blue or indigo.

  • Gold

Gold can be used in either warm or cool tones. Warm golds, like antique gold or brass, have a rich, earthy look. Cool golds, like silver or platinum, have a more modern and sophisticated feel.

How to Use Blue and Gold Together

There are many ways to use blue and gold together in your home. Here are a few ideas:

  • Paint your walls a blue hue and add gold accents with furniture, accessories, and artwork.

  • Use a blue-and-gold color scheme for your bedroom, living room, or dining room.

  • Create a focal point in your home with a blue-and-gold rug, mirror, or chandelier.

  • Use blue and gold in your kitchen for a touch of luxury.

No matter how you choose to use them, blue and gold are sure to add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your home.

***Fun Fact: Blue and gold are the official state colors of California. Blue represents the sea and sky, while gold represents the mineral mined there.***

How To Master Navy Blue and Gold Decor, Pinterest's New Favorite Color Scheme. It's a match made in design heaven!

6 Ways to Decorate with Blue and Gold

  1. Use as an accent color.

For those not quite as adventurous with bold color, you don’t need to paint an entire room. Instead, bring in one boldly colored accessory, like pillow fabrics, or a rug like these from Sylvie and Mira. It's often an easier way to incorporate bold color without going over the top or without making a costly mistake.

2. The Best Living Room Color Scheme

The living room is the place where friends and family gather to spend quality time in a home, so it’s important for it to be well-designed and have the right color. Living room color scheme ideas will help you to add harmonious shades to your home, bringing variety and feelings of calm.

3. Navy and Gold are trending in Kitchens and Bath

In the kitchen, we have noticed more and more blue color selections for cabinetry. This is “Hale Navy” by Benjamin Moore. It is truly a royal blue and offers a little more depth than black. (via Christopher Peacock)
