How to Use Benjamin Moore's Color of the Year: Aegean Teal 2021
COLOR TRENDS and How to Bring Them Into Your Home
“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into tree’s. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn. -John Muir”
We're looking to nature for the best ideas and inspiration.
Last year’s 2020 Color was First Light, a soft and very light pink color with an airy quality.
This year’s big reveal for Benjamin Moore’s 2021 COLOR OF THE YEAR is AEGEAN TEAL. This color is presented as a focus on Nature and Harmony for 2021. This is an earthy color that we will explore with you more in this article.

What are some of the best uses for this color?
Aegean Teal
These past couple of years we have seen a resurgence of earthen colors and this year is a continuation of our search for health and wellness at home and work, and a sense of respect for the renewed sense of self that nature provides.
5 Ways to Make Your Home More Colorful with Aegean Blue
This is a great color to use on cabinetry.
For those not quite as adventurous with bold color, you don't have to paint an entire room. Bring in one boldly colored accessory, fabric or rug. It's often an easier way to incorporate bold color without going over the top or making a costly mistake.
2. Use as an accent color on a wall or in a small room.
Another way to add a dash of color is to try it in a small room, like this breakfast nook, a great place to experiment with a bold color on the walls, trim, and furniture.
3. Use As an Accent Color for a Living Room or Bedroom.
Jeffrey Bilhuber introduces classic elegance to a white and camel room. It’s funny how a color that wasn’t even on your radar is suddenly just perfect when you see the perfect balances of each offered here. Aegean Teal also pairs so well with the warm tones of antiques.
4. Tabletop accents!
Even the traditional Denby has accentuated their tabletop collection with patterned teal accessories, including placemats, coasters, and etched amber glassware, which they say creates an easy way to make mealtimes more interesting and visually appealing as well as an inexpensive and effective way of changing an interior. The bold imagery and colors stand out as global influences seen in the Boho Luxe styling.
5. Paint or Upholster a piece of furniture.
A calming and beautiful color, Aegean Teal is perfect for updating vintage or new pieces of furniture. Revive a forgotten piece of furniture with any of the hues from the Color Trends 2021 palette. Alone, the colors have a relaxing quality; together, they can create energizing contrast. Download a color sheet for reference when at the store.
6. A favorite color for the Front Door!
A warm and welcoming color for your front door. These are some of my faves from the 2021 palette!

Color Review and Thoughts:
Aegean Teal is a perfect balance of blue-green and a touch of gray, imbued with depth in its earth tones. With the green base, it has a neutral ability when paired with other colors.
The organic quality of the new conversation we are having about home and global use makes this color the perfect color story for the kitchen. Where are people renovating the most today? The kitchen! This color makes sense for 2021.
