“It’s always about timing. If it’s too soon, no one understands. If it’s too late, everyone’s forgotten.”

– Anna Wintour

As I toured around High Point Market and visited with a variety of our vendors, I couldn't help but feel the traditional induction into the insiders market

The journey to North Carolina for High Point Market is a tradition for Interior Designers since this is a trade-only event, and an opportunity to refine our insights, as we become enlightened with the knowledge of trends about to surface in the approaching year.  It’s also a lot of fun!

What Is High Point Market?

It is a designer’s lifeline to sources and new vendors.

High Point Market is literally millions of square feet of showrooms featuring the latest in products and services. It can make your head spin a little.  But we forge forward meeting old friends and new ones. I am also always delighted by the variety of antiques and treasures that were interspersed amongst many of the latest trends and furniture sources.

Here are some of my observations:

Highland House delights

1.Color and Fabrics: Natural Tones

Truly delightful light tones, the popular white sofa, added use of fringe and trims, accented with pops of color as seen at Highland House

Isn't this set just beautiful!  We will be seeing more of this with natural tones and a luxurious side with more velvets, chambrays, and washed light finishes. Look to see more accent colors in variations of green, with mustard and mauve.  We also noticed lots of bold shapes, soft colors, jewel-tone accents, and many minimal interior settings.

2. The Color: Pink, Blush and Soft Lavenders

There is never enough time to see everything at High Point Market, and it can be exhausting trying to do just that. So let your Instagram do the walking for you. Here are a few highlights of some of our favorite new introductions as seen during the market.

3. Textures: Washed finishes and lightweight chambray fabrics

4. Accents in Gold and Silver

Mixed metals, shiny and with patina. Are you a fan of clean, modern home accents? Lots of gorgeous gold decor for living rooms, tabletop, to add that little touch of glam and act as functional art.

Gold is more popular than ever and remains a hot color! There are a number of ways to add gold accents to your home no matter your decorating style.

10. EARTHY TEXTURES

As we become more aware of sustainable practices and lifestyle choices that are better for our health, better for the planet, we see home trends also reflecting this positive change.  Materials are developed with longer life cycles and longevity.  Locally made, and sourced is the best choice.

11. HANDCRAFTED, ARTISAN, AND CUSTOM PIECES ARE THE NEW LUXURY

Work by craftspeople is embraced and seen in everything from lighting to ceramics and furniture. Consumers are looking for unique pieces, with high quality and ethical sources.

12. WICKER (one more additional trend highlight for good luck )

We will be seeing more wicker this year. Wicker, Raffia, Cane.  From chairs to lampshades, light fixtures, and accessories. The natural color of wicker against the crisp whites of performance fabrics is a clean and winning combination.

OK, THAT WAS 12 NOT 10, BUT THERE WAS  MORE TO SHARE.  I FILTERED AND PRESENTED HERE  THE MOST SUBSTANTIAL TRENDS AND INTRODUCTIONS PRESENTED AT THE MARKET THIS YEAR!  SO EXCITING.
